ABOUT MATTHEW SCOTT
I am a former U.S. Marine and I have 21 years as a police officer, 5 of those years as a Sergeant. I am a certified instructor in Law Enforcement Active Shooter Response, and a recognized Subject Matter Expert in Crisis Response.
Over the years, I have responded to many crisis situations and was the Chairperson for a full-scale active shooter drill which
incorporated the latest tactics including the Rescue Task-Force.
With a passion for safety and a love of teaching, I created a workshop that has been presented throughout the State of California including School Safety Conventions, State Government buildings, schools, churches, and private companies.

In developing the training program for TASC, I utilized the training and experiences from my time serving in the US Marines and serving communities in Northern California as a law enforcement officer/sergeant. As a sergeant for a police department that covered a large school district in northern California, I quickly realized that active shooter training for school staff was important. This realization compelled me to attend some of the nations top training schools which included New Mexico Tech, Louisiana State University, and Chapman University.
During my tenure as a sergeant, I was recognized as a subject matter expert in the field of active shooters and crisis response. I was a certified law enforcement Active Shooter Response and Explosive Incident Response Instructor through the US Department of Homeland Security. I was the safety consultant to several different groups including schools and community groups. Additionally, I was the department Terrorism Liaison Officer, representative to intelligence gathering agencies, and member of the Northern California InfraGard. I participated in several multi-jurisdictional incidents as a team member and as part of the command post including as the Incident Commander and Public Information Officer. I was Chairperson for a full-scale active shooter drill which incorporated 9 different government agencies, a private company, a school district, and local community college. I have been consulted by the California state legislature on crisis response and lockdown procedures for schools. I updated all policies and procedures for a regional government agency that is responsible for Critical Infrastructure and key resources covering six counties.
